Mount Gambier -Queens Brithday by scott

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I Spent the long weekend away with big Glenn and (shut up Todd) Todd Paterson in Mount Gambier racing

the Australian Country Champ’s and the Vic /Sa challenge. It was the fist race meeting on the new track ,

that consists of an 8 meter tall start hill and 7′000 cubic meters of volcanic ash to form 4 berm (corners)

, about 20 jumps and a massive pro section , over 410 meters .

Aus country champs {sat 12th}

Racing was fast and fun with smaller fields , as the track dried out and we got used to it the better we went

i had 8 races for the day witch meant 8 coughing fit from a chest infection last week . I finished in 6th place

on the 20″ and 7th on the 24″. young Todd just missed out on making the semi’s.

Vic/Sa Challenge {sun 13th}

I felt  A lot better health wise ,so i had a bit more energy to go a bit harder. On the 20″ i had run off to make the

semi’s ,3 rider to start the race with only 2 making it to the semi’s .I got a good start and led in to the first corner

but was over taken in the 2nd corner by one of the guys , in the 3rd corner the other guy and myself banged

handle bars ,i lost momentum and just got beaten over the line . Iwas a little disappointed but it was my best

for the week end . On the 24′ bike i finished 7th. Todd made the semi’s on the 24″ but finished 5th so he didn’t make the final.  todd on 1st straight and the start hill

2010 BMX Nationals

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

We went to Shepparton for my first National Titles. What everyone has said about it is true, there is no event like it. The stage was set for an epic week of racing. The track was perfect, the gate was fast and there were plenty of excited riders. My races were on Saturday. I had a bit of bad luck in the first moto, where i clipped out on the start hill and crashed in the first corner. I was lucky not to injure myself. I got back into the zone for the second moto and i was really happy with my result. My 3rd place in that race set me back on track to make the eighth finals. I got another 3rd in my next moto, giving me 6th pick in the eighth final. I got a good gate and tried my best but the other guys were too fast for me. I got a 6th which wasn’t good enough to make the quarters. Iwas happy with the way I rode. The event was really well run. Thanks to Croydon Cycle Works and my parents for all the support.

Scotty milking it

 This was my first Nationals in 12 years, how things have changed !

With the rapid growth of bmx in the last few years, the sport has become a lot more professional,Now at age group level you need coach and at lest five nights a week to train.The racing was fast , I set pb`s on both bikes in my moto`s ,but not enough to get me to the semi`s. Three of the boys in my moto`s all made the final , with one going on to top win on the 20″ .He then backed that up  with a 2 nd place on the cruiser (24″ wheel) .  the family and i had a good week  in Shepperton with good weather , and fun racing what more could you ask for. I know  more fun racing in Mount Gambier in about 4 weeks for the vic / sa challenge and the australian country cup ….. BRING IT ON
