Meet our new mechanic – Brad Clark

Hi all –  we thought we would take the opportunity to introduce our new mechanic Brad Clark. Brad has been with us coming up on 3 months and getting some rave reviews on his work. He has been going the extra mile to address the little things that would become a problem for a customer later, and much to the appreciation from our customers. Now while Brad has been doing a fantastic job, we wanted to tell you a little about our humble mechanic.

imageBrad is a 41 year old veteran of the industry. He commenced working in bike shops as a kid helping out. He has built up over 30 years working in and around bike shops, and has seen more things than most of us. From a shop boy, he is now our mechanic. Brad has 9 bikes of his own. He has a Specialised Enduro Pro MTB, a Celeste Bianchi running a traditional Campagnolo groupset, but his pure joy is his Trek Boone CX bike. He is only too happy to have a discussion about unique requirements or explain why a problem may be re-occurring for our customers.

Lets dig a little deeper. Lets look at Brad, the cyclist. Brad has experience in most disciplines in cycling. He has competed in road, MTB, triathlon and now enjoys the atmosphere of competing in CX. He has been pretty successful over the journey. In one year he was ranked in the top 10 in the state on the Road, MTB and Triathlon series. Handy! He has won several club championships in the past at his old club down at Warragul in Gippsland. He even has a result, beating our 2011 Tour de France champion, Cadel Evans, in a MTB race. Yeah we know, well before Cadel was a TdF champion, but how many of us can claim that one. These days the type of racing that excites Brad are “bike packing” events like the Indian Pacific Wheel Race, starting 18th March and travelling some 5,500kms from Fremantle to Sydney. A solo odyssey indeed.

Most importantly we asked Brad how he likes his coffee. “STRONG !!” came the answer. Just like his work as our bike mechanic. Next time you are in the shop introduce yourself or have a chat to him about the work on your bike. Like us you are likely to be impressed.

Keep up the great work Brad.
