Week 11 – Time to get your S#!T together again.

I love Monday’s. Its the start to a fresh new week and a great opportunity to keep moving forward. Today I decided to add a little yoga into the mix. Yoga is fantastic to free up the body after a tough week of training.

Tuesday was my rescheduled FTP test after carrying too much fatigue to deliver a valid test on Sunday. However to be honest I was still carrying a lot of fatigue and holding onto a sinus infection. This didn’t bode well for much of a result.

Now anyone who has done any form of testing understands what I am about to discuss. You jump on the bike and you know… today I am on or today I am not! Today I knew I was not, but this is not the reason to avoid testing. Remember testing is only there to track progress. It can indicate if things are working well and of course if things are not. A result is just a data point. Each data point can have positive or negative contributors, which I always look at in consideration of a result. Today was no different. The issue was around lack of useable oxygen to working muscles so those muscles reached failure earlier than expected. After consideration of these elements I decided to retain my previous test FTP as my current FTP of 280w. We punch on again.

Intervals on 12% gradients – Yeah Nah!

The remainder of the week included a couple of really tough sessions aimed at pushing aerobic development. Long periods at Sweetspot, sprinkled with VO2 and Anaerobic intervals, can be both mentally and physically draining, but oh so bloody satisfying when they are done.

VO2 is your friend – LMAO yeah right

We are heading into some real wintery weather ahead so I have dusted off all the thermal and dry gear to keep on training. Remember there is no bad weather, just poor clothing choices.
